I have published my notes on psalm 40 at Poetry of Christ. The relevance to the psalm of the Vaughan Williams setting of the song from Pilgrim's Progress is worth considering. I feel lucky that my exercises in concordance have found this connection. I have linked to a very good performance of the song at the bottom of the post.
