Judges 3

What a primitive lot. Must be a lot of primitives still around today to be proven, to see if discernment of the will of G-d is possible for humanity. Do we have to see war and violence to appreciate that it is futile even for self-interest?

Judges 3 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And these are the nations that Yahweh had let rest to prove, with them, Israel,
all who did not know all the wars of Canaan.
3e 4C 21
15
2 ~ Solely so that the generations of the children of Israel may know the teaching of battle,
solely that to their faces it was not known.
3e 4C 19
10
3 Five chieftains of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites settled on the hill of Lebanon,
from the hill of Baal Hermon until the entry to Hamath.
3e 4B 29
11
4 And they were to prove, with them, Israel,
to know the hearing of the commandments of Yahweh that he commanded their ancestors by the hand of Moses.
3e 4B 11
24
5 And the children of Israel settled cheek by jowl with the Canaanite,
the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite.
3e 4C 14
20
6 And they took their daughters to them to be their wives, and their daughters they gave to their sons,
and they served their God.
3e 4C 24
9
7 And the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of Yahweh, and they forgot Yahweh their God,
and they served Baalim and their fetishes.
3e 4C 28
14
8 And the anger of Yahweh burned in Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Koshen Rishataim, the king of Aram of the two rivers,
and the children of Israel served Koshen Rishataim eighteen years.
3c 4C 29
20
9 And the children of Israel appealed to Yahweh and Yahweh raised up a saviour for the children of Israel, and he saved them,
Othniel child of Qenaz, Caleb's brother, the younger from him.
3d 4C 29
17
10 And the spirit of Yahweh was on him and he judged Israel and went out to war, and Yahweh gave into his hand Koshen Rishataim, the king of Aram,
and strengthened his hand over Koshen Rishataim .
3e 4C 41
12
11 And the land was quiet a forty year span,
and he died, Othniel child of Qenaz.
3e 4B 11
9
12 And again the children of Israel did evil in the eyes of Yahweh,
and Yahweh made Eglon the king of Moab resolute in Israel, in that they had done evil in the eyes of Yahweh.
3d 4C 19
27
13 And he gathered to him the children of Ammon and Amalek,
and went and struck Israel, and they possessed the city of palm trees.
3e 4B 15
17
14 And the children of Israel served Eglon the king of Moab eighteen years. 3e 4C 23
15 And the children of Israel appealed to Yahweh and Yahweh raised up to them a saviour, Ehud, a child of Gera of Benjamin, a person hampered in his right hand,
and the children of Israel sent in his hand a gift to Eglon the king of Moab.
3e 4C 39
21
16 And Ehud made for himself a dagger and it had two edges, a half-cubit in length,
and he wore it beneath his armour on his right thigh.
3d 4C 18
17
17 And he brought the gift near to Eglon, the king of Moab,
and Eglon was an excessively plenteous person.
3e 4B 14
8
18 And it happened that as he finished bringing near the gift,
that he sent the people away that had borne the gift.
3e 4B 14
11
19 But himself, he turned from the graven images that were by the tumbleweed and he said, A secret matter I have for you, O king,
and he said, Hush, and all those standing by him went forth from him.
3d 4B 27
16
20 And Ehud came to him, and he was sitting in the upper room of the town, that was his alone, and Ehud said, A word of God I have to you.
And he arose from the throne.
3e 4C 37
8
21 And Ehud extended his left hand and he took the dagger from his right thigh,
and sounded it in his belly.
3e 4C 24
8
22 And even the haft entered following the point and the gross fat imprisoned the point from within, for he could not draw the dagger from his belly,
and out came the guts.
3d 4C 33
8
23 And Ehud went out the colonnade,
and he latched and bolted the gateways of the upper room behind him.
3c 4A 10
15
24 When he himself had emerged, and his servants entered and saw, and behold the gateways of the upper room bolted,
they said, Surely he is overshadowing his feet in the inner room of the town.
3d 4C 25
16
25 They were in turmoil until ashamed, and behold he was not opening the gateways of the upper room,
and they took the door-key and they opened, and behold their master, fallen down earthward, dead.
3d 4C 21
24
26 And Ehud escaped while they were lingering,
and he passed beyond the graven images and he escaped to Seirah.
3e 4B 10
16
27 And it happened when he came, that he sounded the shophar in mount Ephraim,
and with him the children of Israel came down from the hill, and himself facing them.
3c 4B 16
18
28 And he said to them, Pursue after me, for Yahweh has given your enemies, Moab, into your hand.
And they came down after him, and they conquered the fords of the Jordan to Moab, and they did not permit anyone to cross over.
3c 4C 25
28
29 And they struck Moab at that time, about ten thousand, each and everyone stout, and everyone and each of ability,
and not one escaped.
3e 4C 26
5
30 And Moab was subdued in that day under the hand of Israel,
and the land was quiet an eighty year span.
3e 4C 16
11
31 And after him was Shamgar child of Anat, and he struck the Philistines, six hundred such, with the fillip of an ox,
and he saved, even he, Israel.
