1 Samuel 19

Why is Jonathan (יהונתן)/ Yonathan (יונתן) spelled two different ways in this chapter? I have varied one letter just to show this difference. (Probably they are the same person. But maybe J/Y is two-spirited. Saul and his son, studies in Psychology, both beloved of David.)

Yet 1 Samuel 19 must be one of the most amusing chapters in the Bible. What madness grips these prophets? Even Saul.

1 Samuel 19 Fn Min Max Syll
1 And Saul spoke to Yonathan, his son, and to his servants to execute David,
but Jonathan, child of Saul, delighted in David excessively.

14
2 And Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeks to put you to death.
So now, watch yourself, please, in the morning, and settle in secret and camouflage yourself.

21
3 And myself, I will come out, and I will stand adjacent to my father in the field, where you are, and myself, I will speak of you to my father.
And I will see what is and I will tell you.
3e 4B 32
10
4 And Jonathan spoke good of David to Saul his father.
And he said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have been excessively good for you.
3e 4C 16
33
5 And he put his very self in his palm, and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh undertook a great salvation for all Israel. You saw and were glad.
So why would you sin against innocent blood to execute David for nothing?
3e 4C 37
18
6 And Saul heard with the voice of Jonathan.
And Saul swore, Yahweh lives, let him not be put to death.
3e 4B 11
13
7 And Jonathan called David and Jonathan made clear to him all these words,
and Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as previously.
3e 4C 26
23
8 And again there was war.
And David went out and fought against the Philistines, and struck them a great strike and they withdrew from before his face.
3e 4C 9
28
9 And the evil spirit of Yahweh was on Saul, and he was sitting in his house, and his spear was in his hand.
But David performed music with a hand.
3e 4C 25
8
10 And Saul sought to strike David with the spear, and into the house wall, but he excused himself from the presence of Saul.
So he struck the spear into the house wall, but David had withdrawn and escaped that night.
3d 4C 32
12
11 And Saul sent messengers to the house of David to watch him, and to execute him in the morning.
And Michal, his wife, told David, saying, If it is not in you to escape with your cadaver tonight, tomorrow you will be executed.
3e 4C 23
31
12 And Michal let David go down through the window,
and he went, and he ran away, and he escaped.
3c 4B 13
10
13 And Michal took the household gods and put them on the couch, and a cushion of she-goat hair, she set at its head,
and covered with a garment.
3e 4B 30
5
14 And Saul sent messengers to take David,
and she said, He is ill.
3d 4B 14
6
15 And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying,
Bring up him in the couch to me that I may execute him.
3c 4C 17
14
16 And the messengers came and behold, the household gods on the couch,
and a cushion of she-goat hair, its pillow.
3e 4A 17
10
17 And Saul said to Michal, Why thus have you deceived me that you sent away my enemy and he is escaped?
And Michal said to Saul, He said to me, Send me away. Why should I put you to death?
3d 4C 26
21
18 But David had run away and escaped, and came to Samuel towards Ramah, and he told him all that Saul had done to him.
And he came, and Samuel, and they settled in Naiot.
3d 4C 33
13
19 And it was told to Saul, saying,
Behold, David is in Naiot in Ramah.
3e 4B 8
10
20 And Saul sent messengers to take David, and he saw a congregation of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as monitor over them,
And over the messengers of Saul was the spirit of God, and they prophesied, even they.
3e 4C 35
20
21 And they told Saul, and he sent other messengers, and they prophesied, even they.
And again Saul, and he sent messengers a third time, and they prophesied, even they.
3e 4B 23
21
22 And he also went towards Ramah, and came to a great cistern which in Seku, and he inquired, and said, Where are Samuel and David?
And one said, Behold, in Naiot in Ramah.
3e 4C 36
11
23 And he went there to Naiot in Ramah.
And upon him, even him, was the spirit of God, and he went meandering, and he prophesied until he entered into Naiot in Ramah.
3e 4C 10
29
24 And he stripped, even he, his garments. And he prophesied, even he, before Samuel. And fell naked all that day and all the night long.
So they say, Even Saul is among the prophets.
